Although it has been three years since the last in-person ABAI annual convention, the excitement, the anxiety (e.g. last-minute presentation modifications, packing, catching flights), and the feelings of “home” are more vibrant than ever. I know I am not the only one that would say the COVID-19 pandemic has been exhausting. The science and practice of our field have had to adapt at an accelerated pace which unfortunately can leave a lot of us burned out. I might be biased, but after 12 years of attending ABAI, I have always left refreshed and optimistic to get back home to continue to practice, conduct research, and disseminate our field.
Mark Twain said “In Boston, they ask, how much does he know? In New York, how much is he worth? In Philadelphia, who were his parents?” This quote may sound a bit silly, but I have interpreted the meaning of this quote that Boston is a city of knowledge, growth, and is revolutionary. I am hopeful myself and fellow ABAI attendees will leave the conference with obtaining great knowledge as well as optimism to revolutionize our field for what it needs to grow as a science and practice in which our communities deserve.
Since this is a verbal behavior (VB) oriented blog, I am back again with helping all my VB lovers attending the conference to find all VB-related events. You can use this site to add the events to your schedule or use the conference app to find the session number. I will definitely be attending a lot of these events!
Happy conferencing!
